An English Kitchen Garden

The design of a kitchen and rose garden set in the beautiful Rutland countryside.

Oxford Lawns and Gardens supplied a formal design from which hard landscaping was carried out including oak lined raised beds with brick paved paths and a timber framed Victorian style greenhouse. Many of the beds are edged with box hedging to provide interest in winter along with step over pears and apples trained on wires.

A dry shaded border with a stilted hedge was under planted with shade tolerant plants whilst a larger area comprised a mixed herbaceous border in pastel colours for cutting.

Two large box edged beds were planted with an assortment of New English Roses, box, lavender and roses.

Other projects include the sourcing implementation of pleached ilex (holly) hedging to provide a privacy screen, sourcing topiary pieces and the design and manufacture of hardwood planters by our sister company Oxford Planters.
